Biography

The consummate entertainer.

Scott Record grew up in New England on music, tap dancing, magic, acting and sports — working his family's diner between rehearsals, performing with regional theater companies and the Boston Children's Theater. His first paid performance was as a magician. As a percussionist he played with the Boston Pops during Arthur Fiedler's final year, and with jazz, rock and show bands besides.

He moved to New York in 1978 and took a job as a bouncer and bartender near Dangerfield's. One Monday night he got up on the club's stage. Rodney Dangerfield hired him on the spot, and Scott spent the next three years as his opening act.

Since then he has headlined 18 Royal Caribbean maiden voyages and shared stages with Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Ann-Margret, Tony Bennett, Perry Como, Tom Jones, Julio Iglesias, Huey Lewis and the News, Celine Dion, Cher, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Clint Black and The Gatlin Brothers. He voiced every character in the Academy Award–winning Sundae in New York and supplied Tarzan's yell for Disney. Atlantic City Magazine named him Best Variety Act of the Year.

More on the corporate work

Corporate work has run alongside the ships the whole way, and he is one of the most requested entertainers on that circuit — annual meetings, sales conferences, incentive trips and awards nights, booked and re-booked by the same companies.

He has played for IBM, AT&T, Ford, Chrysler, GE, Pfizer, Motorola, American Airlines, KPMG, Isuzu and Sunoco. He has served as master of ceremonies for the annual ESPY awards dinner, and is a fixture of the PGA and LPGA Pro-Am and charity circuit — he won the Bay Hill Classic Pro-Am playing alongside Tiger Woods.

What gets him re-booked is the same thing that works at sea: a full evening from one performer — music, impressions, comedy and storytelling — clean enough for any room, and built to land with every age in it.
